WI Ranks 2nd Last For Not Meeting Behavioral Health Needs

If you or someone you know is finding access to psychiatric mental health prescribing providers is a challenge throughout Wisconsin, it is sadly a known concern with limited options for help, until now....

According to an article recently published in the Wisconsin Journal Sentinel, Jon Lehrmann, the chairman of psychiatry and behavioral medicine at the Medical college, was quoted as staying that, "It's hard to get in to see a psychiatrist in the Milwaukee area, and up north, it's almost impossible."

But why is this?

Per the analysis by the Kaiser Family Foundation, Wisconsin ranks second-last in the nation for not meeting the behavioral health needs of its population...actually, with only addressing a mere 20% of its population's need for mental health care.

To make this hit home further, in Waukesha County, there are over 8842 in the population with 1 psychiatric prescribing provider https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/publications/p0/p00376.pdf.

Sad, but true.
